Springfield PA to See DUI Checkpoints During Thanksgiving Week

It’s been well documented that tonight, the night before Thanksgiving, is one of the biggest bar nights of the year. So much so that it has been dubbed Blackout Wednesday (a parody intended to mimic Black Friday). We imagine that the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce does not find that moniker amusing. Comprised of police departments from Haverford, Radnor, Marple, Springfield, Upper Darby and Newtown, the Taskforce will be conducting a checkpoint or checkpoints in Springfield this week. The days around Thanksgiving tend to see a higher rate of DUI as there are folks celebrating at bars with days off to recover from late nights.

Additionally, college kids come home to see family and of course catch up with high school friends. All of this contributes to a potential for disaster. As such, if you are going to consume alcohol over the Thanksgiving holiday, please know your limit and have a designated driver.
