New Driving Under the Influence (DUI) law in effect.
The end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 has brought very drastic changes to the DUI laws. As result of Senate Bill 1239, DUI suspects who have been arrested but not convicted or found guilty by any court will be deemed repeat offenders by these new provisions, if they are subsequently arrested for a DUI on a separate day. These provision will enhance the penalties for DUI drivers and increase the exposure to jail time . Although these new amendments to the DUI laws are in direct contravention of the “presumption of innocence” that every citizen is afforded, they were approved by all member of the Senate and signed into law by former Governor Tom Corbett prior to leaving office.
If you or anyone you know is charged with a DUI, have them contact Giribaldi & Manaras, P.C. to discuss their issue.
